Consumer Feedback

As I said I do not normally take any form of sleep aid. Last time I took a sleep aid I woke up the next morning feeling groggy, with a dry mouth, and feeling drugged. The reason I chose Tylenol PM was because it is not supposed to be habit forming and I needed a pain reliever as well as help getting a good nights sleep. My back had been hurting and I figured that was part of the reason why I had not been sleeping well. The first night I took Tylenol PM I started feeling drowsy after about 25-30 minutes. I went to bed shortly there after and managed to get six straight hours of sleep. When I woke up I did not feel tired or like I had been drugged, but I was a little bit groggy. I chose not to take the Tylenol PM the second night and got a couple hours of sleep, but still only managed to get three hours of sleep and could not get back to sleep for a couple of hours. My back was still bugging me bad though. I ended up taking a couple more pills on the third night since my back was still bugging me and I really needed the sleep. This time when I woke up after a full 8 hours of sleep. I did not feel groggy and I was not tired nor did not feel drugged.

This medication is really just Tylenol with an antihistamine added. It's not a big secret formula but it works fairly well to relieve pain and cause some drowsiness which helps people to sleep. However, there is a bit of a hangover feeling the next day after using it - at least for my son and I. Also, Tylenol just doesn't seem to tackle my pain like other pain relievers do.

While I was very pleased that the Tylenol PM had removed my headache and helped me to sleep better for that extend nap, it wasn't very much fun being groggy for like the first 20 minutes after waking up. If you look at this product as just a great tool for helping with aches and pains, then you are going to end up pretty happy, but you have to take with it the fact that you are not going to wake up from your sleep in the best of temperaments. I think it did the job that it advertised, and for future use it will be very important for me to remember that waking up is hard to do after taking this medication.
