Consumer Feedback

I tried Unisom and at first I was very out off by the nausea that occurs approximately thirty minutes after the dosage has been swallowed. The first few times I took it, I became so nauseous that I had to lay down and close my eyes. I discovered that if you immediately lie down at this stage, your chances of falling asleep are much greater. After you've used this product for about a week, you will find that you have developed a tolerance for it and a second dose will be needed. If you continue taking Unisom for more than two weeks, you may discover a very nasty side affect. One much worse than the nausea, nightmares, and the lovely hung over feeling that you will experience each Unisom morning. The side affect that I am referring to is sleep apnea. Imagine what it feels like to wake up five or six times a night unable to inhale or exhale. You fight to breathe and fear that you may not. You learn quickly that going without sleep would have been better. The sleep apnea does eventually go away after a few weeks, but is this side affect worth the restless, nightmare infested sleep you'll get from the use of this product? If you choose to use this product, use it only when you absolutely have to get some sleep. Don't let your body build up a tolerance and only take the recommended dosage.

I discovered Unisom over three years ago, and it was truly a life saver! My high-stress job, coupled with a caffeine habit, caused me to experience a collision between my late-nights and my mind/body's need for good sleep! Worry over intense deadlines would prompt me to go to bed early... where I'd lie awake for hours and hours, trying to drift off. The next day I would be exhausted, at a time when I needed clarity most. In desperation, I tried Unisom and had the best sleep I could imagine; deep, and with wonderful dreams! The next day I felt groggy til 11am or so... but soon discovered I could get to sleep with as little as a quarter tab, and not feel groggy after.

The first time you try Unisom, take half a tablet. If that doesn't work for you, try a whole tablet the next time. Also, don't take it at all unless you have at least eight hours (or more) to sleep. If you need to get up in six hours you'll stumble around like Night of the Living Dead for most of the next day. This medication is best if you're suffering from days of sleep deprivation and can sleep in the next morning; it's not so good if you have to get up early for work.
